You can but if you are active duty you are wasting your money with the normal health insurance since Tricare will pay for everything. Outside of the ER; you can only see the nonmilitary doctors if you get a referral. Anything you aren’t referred for has to be paid out of pocket. This is assuming you are in the military, if you are a dependent it works a little differently and you need to contact Tricare about your situation.

After several years of serving your country you are now officially out of the Army, now what? First and foremost give yourself a huge pat on the back, as you should be commended for serving and protecting this great country. Next you need to decide what to do with the rest of your life.

When making such a big decision you first need to ask yourself what it is you enjoy? If you enjoy animals for example, then perhaps you should consider a veterinary carrier. But what if you don’t have the training?

If you want to do something after your Army life that requires schooling then waste no time and get going. Many who served in the Army qualified for the G.I. Bill, which gives you money for college. You should know if you have the G.I. Bill or not, but if you are unsure you can always go talk to a recruiter who can then put you in touch with the proper personnel. Also, because you served in the Army, there are many scholarships, grants, and loans that are specifically designed to aid you in your quest for greater knowledge. To find out what these are, seek the advice of the financial aid office in the college you are thinking of attending.

Perhaps though college isn’t right for you. In this case maybe you can take what you learned in the Army and apply it to civilian life. If you were in the Military Police for example, then perhaps a career in law enforcement would be rewarding for you. Maybe you worked in the motorcade. With the skills you learned there, you could easily translate that into a good paying auto technician job. The point is, whatever you did in the Army for Uncle Sam, there is almost always a counterpart in the private sector.

When you are seeking private employment be sure to mention that you served in the Army as many employers look for the discipline in an employee that the Army teaches. Being in the Army looks great on a resume and you never know which prospective employer may have served in the armed forces as well.
Before deciding what to do, ask yourself these questions first:

• What are your goals?
• What are your skills?
• What are your interests?
• Do you want to seek higher education?

Once you have secured your employment and are looking for housing, keep in mind that there are many loans that are tailored for those that served in the Army. If buying a house is your desire, then talk to your real estate agent about any special loans for former military.

Any move in life takes getting used to. A move out of Army life and into civilian life takes a lot of getting used to. Remember the decisions you make will affect the rest of your life so take your time and choose wisely. If you have 30 semester credits when you join, you get 1 automatic promotion. If you have 60 semester credits, you get two automatic promotions.

This is only good for promotion from E-1 to E-2 to E-3.

As such, your pay would change considerably just for what you’ve already done.

The material used in the making of army boots, its height, ventilation pattern, lacing system, and a host of other things will vary based on the climate and function for which various models are designed. Nevertheless, army also lays down some general rules on the type of boots that can be worn with ACU or army combat uniform. One of these is that cattle hide leather has to be used in the manufacture of all types of army boots. Though the leather industry produces leather out of a variety of animals like pigs, goats, alligators, kangaroos, and ostriches, none of these are allowed in army boots.

The height of army boots is kept between 8″ and 10″ and sole thickness is not kept more than 2″. No army boots design will allow the sole material to extent over the toe or project over the heel area. Polyurethane and rubber are the materials used for outsole in army boots and these are used in different combinations in boots designed for various terrains. Both these are very durable and are the best available materials for giving good traction on slippery or steep surfaces.

The upper of army boots will be of complete leather, or of a combination of leather and nylon. Nylon is mainly used in jungle boots. Mesh is not generally used for the upper because no material that is not flame resistant is recommended for the making of the upper of army boots. Because of that, soldiers are not allowed to wear certain types of desert boots even if they are otherwise comfortable.

Though most types of army boots are laced ones, there are exceptions like tanker boots where leather straps are used for fastening. However, Velcro inserts are not used in army boots. Likewise, plastic cleats and metal cleats on the soles are not allowed for soldiers use. So, even where a pair of boots is otherwise comfort wear and suitable for any specific terrain, it is not used as army boots if it has got cleats of either plastic or metal.

Two types of army boots, namely army combat boots or ACB for hot season, and ACB for temperate conditions are a must for soldiers. Though army issues boots to its soldiers, there are also many models of commercial off the shelf boots that satisfy the regulations of army boots. Soldiers are allowed to use any of these according to their aesthetic preferences.

While the army lays down certain restrictions on the type of boots soldiers can use, civilians have no restrictions on wearing army boots. Since the army has specialized boots for use in mountains, desert, swamps etc. these come in very handy for civilians who have to move about in such rough terrains either as part of their adventurous hobbies or as part of their duties. Major Scott MacLeod, Region Leader of the Texas Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Command, planned to watch NASA’s first space shuttle launch since he and his soldiers led clean up and recovery efforts surrounding the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy that affected communities throughout Texas in February 2003.

Last week, Captain Norberto Flores and his 300 Texas Army National Guard troops from the 1836th Transportation Company returned from a 16-month deployment in Iraq where they logged more than 2.5 million miles during their 233 missions.

“If there ever was a time where the Army National Guard’s importance was evident, this is it.” Lt. Col. Tracy Norris, Commander of the Texas Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Command said.

Today, more than 4,500 Texas Army National Guardsman are serving beside other servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan. And like its Florida component who assisted when Hurricane Dennis struck land this week, Texas Army National Guard soldiers are first to respond when asked by Governer Rick Perry to aid in any emergencies and natural disasters within Texas.

“Our recruiters are soldiers who serve side by side with the honorable men and women that they enlist,” Lt. Col. Norris said. “In contrast to current media reports, our retention rates tell us that we are accomplishing the difficult task of meeting recruitment goals during a time of war.”

The Texas Army National Guard is currently at 100.3% of its end strength mission for this year. In June, Texas Army National Guard recruiters had their best month this year exceeding National Guard headquarters goals by enlisting more than 320 soldiers.

The Texas Army National Guard has approximately 190 recruiters in the state of Texas compared to the more than 1,000 that the regular Army employs in Texas.

On May 20, Texas Army National Guard recruiters were available to the media on the day when Army recruiters were required to stand down for nation-wide ethical training.

“Yes this is a challenging time for the Army National Guard, but we are driving forward with a firm resolve and confidence in the branch that we serve,” Lt. Col. Norris said.

Because the insurance laws in KS differ from those in NC. NC requires coverages not required in KS, and vice versa. Any vehicle operated in KS more than 6 months out of the year is subject to it’s financial responsibilty laws, no exception for people in the military. Likewise, the rates in NC are based on risk in NC, whereas the risk in KS is completely different, as such so are the rates. It does NOT matter where the cars registered- the car is in KS, and is exposed to the risk present in KS. In my experience, it should be cheaper to insure there anyways- so why fight it?

My fiance’s Mom keeps telling him to get a blood test, so now he says he has to get one to cover his child under military insurance. The baby hasn’t been born yet.
And he is also preparing to enlist in the marines.

no no blood test is needed. when the baby is born he just has to go in and show what they need to see to get the baby covered. he does not need a blood test tho.

Contact the families who have lost a son, father, mother, sister and do a fund raiser for them. I’m sure now those families are financially hurting since they lost an income.

Volunteer to go over there and be part of it before you approach those families. Because you will never know what they are going through unless you experience it.

Question by Chris BeVier: Will military insurance pay for the birth of a baby if the parents are not married?
I have a friend that is about to have a baby. She has no insurance and currently has one child. The father is a deadbeat, but he is in the National guard. She keeps telling me that because they are not married she cannot receive his insurance for the birthing process. Is this true? Also the military should cover the insurance of the one son and the child on the way correct? Is there any other assistance I should suggest to her?

Yes. If he is not married to her, she would have to take him to court to prove he is the father.

If she is smart, she will pursue legal action against him. He is a deadbeat, and that is the problem with having a baby with someone who is not married to you. He can take off whenever he wants and unless she sues him and proves paternity, she will get nothing.

Even if she proves paternity, it will be hard to get anything from him.
